Laminated Glass
Multi-layer safety glass bonded with an interlayer to improve post-breakage retention, security and UV protection.

Bonded safety glazing with post-breakage retention.
Laminated glass bonds two or more glass layers with a PVB or EVA interlayer. If a pane breaks, the interlayer helps retain fragments and can keep the opening temporarily covered, depending on the glass make-up and support.
By varying pane thickness, heat treatment, interlayer type, colour and number of layers, laminated glass can be configured for safety, security, acoustic control, UV screening and architectural appearance. Structural use still requires project engineering and the correct support system.
Configuration options
- Annealed, heat-strengthened or tempered glass layers.
- Clear, coloured or selected functional PVB and EVA interlayers.
- Multi-layer constructions for higher security or load requirements.
- Polished edges, holes, notches, shapes and printing by approved drawing.
- Flat or curved laminated assemblies subject to processing review.
Design and production notes
- Interlayer type should suit the exposure, edge condition, moisture and temperature environment.
- Exposed edges need compatible sealants and careful detailing.
- Overhead, balustrade, canopy and floor applications require engineering for post-breakage behaviour.
- All fabrication in tempered plies must be completed before tempering and lamination.
- Colour and transparency should be approved with a sample for multi-layer or tinted constructions.

Frequently asked questions.
These answers explain the normal selection process. Send the project drawing or sample when a definitive technical answer is required.
Does laminated glass remain in place after breakage?
The interlayer helps retain fragments, but actual residual capacity depends on the make-up, size, support and load. Critical applications need engineering.
Can laminated glass also be tempered?
Yes. Tempered or heat-strengthened plies can be laminated after heat treatment when the application requires both strength and fragment retention.
Which interlayer should I specify?
Share the application, exposure, safety requirement, desired colour and acoustic or security target. The suitable PVB or EVA construction can then be reviewed.
