Low-E glass, also known as low-radiation glass, is a film made of multilayer metal or other compounds plated on the surface of glass. The coating layer has the characteristics of high visible light transmittance and high reflection of middle and far infrared ray, so that it has excellent heat insulation effect and good light transmittance compared with ordinary glass and traditional coated glass used in building.
Excellent thermal performance
The heat loss of exterior glass is the main part of building energy consumption, accounting for more than 50% of building energy consumption. Relevant research data show that the heat transfer of the inner surface of glass is dominated by radiation, accounting for 58%, which means that the most effective way to change the performance of glass to reduce the heat loss is to inhibit the radiation of the inner surface. The radiant rate of ordinary float glass is as high as 0.84, but it can be reduced to below 0.15 when coated with a low radiant film based on silver. Therefore, the use of Low-E glass manufacturing building doors and Windows, can greatly reduce the indoor heat caused by radiation to outdoor transmission, to achieve the ideal energy-saving effect.
Good optical properties
The visible light transmittance of Low-E glass is theoretically 0-95% (6mm white glass is difficult to do), and the visible light transmittance represents the indoor daylighting. Outdoor reflectance ranges from about 10%-30%. Outdoor reflectance is visible light reflectance, representing reflective intensity or dazzling degree. At present, China requires visible light reflectance of curtain wall to be no more than 30%.
Single silver Low-E glass
Single-silver Low-E coated glasses usually contain only one functional layer (silver), with additional metal and compound layers bringing the total number of layers up to five.
Double silver Low-E glass
Double silver Low-E coated glass has two functional layers (silver layer), plus other metal and compound layers, the total film layer up to 9 layers. However, the technical process control of double silver Low-E glass is much more difficult than that of single silver.
Comparison of single silver LOW-E glass with double silver LOW-E glass
Any coated glass will limit the transmission of visible light to varying degrees while limiting the transmission of solar thermal radiation. Double silver Low-E glass can block more solar thermal radiation than single silver Low-E glass. In other words, under the condition of the same transmittance, double silver Low-E has lower shading coefficient Sc, which can filter sunlight into cold light source to a greater extent.
