Laminated glass is a composite glass product consisting of two or more pieces of glass, sandwiched between one or more layers of organic polymer intermediate film, after special high temperature prepressing (or vacuumize) and high temperature and high pressure processing, so that the glass and the intermediate film permanent bonding as one.

Even if the glass breaks, the pieces will stick to the film, and the surface of the broken glass will remain clean and smooth. This effectively prevents the splinter injury and penetration fall event, to ensure personal safety. In Europe and the United States, most of the building glass is laminated glass, not only to avoid injury accidents, but also because laminated glass has excellent anti-seismic invasion ability. The intermediate membrane can resist the continuous attack of hammer, wood cleaver and other weapons, but also can resist the penetration of bullets for quite a long time, which is a high degree of security. The glass is broken safely and may break under the impact of a heavy ball, but the whole piece of glass still remains a single interlayer, and the fragments and sharp fragments are still stuck together with the intermediate membrane. When the glass breaks, the pieces will not disperse, and it is often used in cars and other vehicles.

Laminated glass, as a kind of safety glass, will not cause sharp fragments to hurt people like ordinary glass after being broken due to the bonding effect of PVB film sandwiched between two ordinary glasses. At the same time, its PVB intermediate film has the performance of sound insulation and sunlight control, which makes it become a new building material with energy saving and environmental protection functions: the laminated glass can not only cut off the 1000 Hz - 2000 Hz noise that can penetrate ordinary glass, but also can block more than 99% of the ultraviolet and absorb the heat in the infrared spectrum.

Laminated glass is mainly used for windshields and bulletproof glass for automobiles and airplanes, as well as for building windows and doors with special safety requirements, partition walls, skylights for industrial plants, and some underwater projects. Therefore, such safety glass should be used in the lobby glass, awning, skylight, and atrium ceiling.
